Hazira (Surat, Gujarat), March 10, 2022: The Heavy Engineering arm of 91 & Toubro, flagged-off the fourth Steam Generator (SG) for NPCIL’s indigenously designed 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) to be set up at Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) in Fatehabad district of Haryana.
The ceremony took place at L&T’s state-of-the-art Heavy Engineering Complex located at Hazira near Surat in the presence of dignitaries from NPCIL and L&T. The entire order was completed 6 months ahead of schedule creating a global benchmark in the nuclear manufacturing industry despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steam Generators (SG) are heat exchangers which convert water into steam using the heat produced in a nuclear reactor core. It acts as a boundary between radiated and outside environment in a PHWR.
